Sliding Scale Model

Why this Flexible Financial Policy?

At Vcil Community, we aim to create a holistic and inclusive approach to education. The Sliding Scale—a flexible fee structure—is a key tool that helps us realize this vision. It allows everyone to contribute according to their financial circumstances, ensuring that no one is excluded from learning and personal growth due to financial barriers.

Supported by our Pay-it-Forward Fund, Vcil Community is able to implement this sliding scale to make education more accessible. Currently, this model is applied exclusively to Vcil Community members.

Contribution Tiers

When this policy is applied, members can choose from several contribution levels:

  1. Zero Level (0 VND): Equivalent to a Full Scholarship This level is for eligible individuals facing financial hardship, ensuring they can participate fully in our programs. The Pay-it-Forward Fund covers all costs for participants at this level.
  2. "Basic" Contribution: Covers Individual Variable Costs This amount covers variable expenses per person, such as food, accommodation, and local transportation. It does not include fixed costs like facilitator fees or program design.
  3. "Moderate" Contribution: Covers Individual Variable Costs & Partial Fixed Costs This level covers individual variable expenses (accommodation, food, etc.) and contributes a portion toward fixed costs, such as facilitator fees and program design.
  4. "Standard" Contribution: Covers Individual Variable Costs & Group Fixed Costs This amount covers all variable costs per person plus the fixed costs for experts, facilitators, and site visits.
  5. "Generous" Contribution: Covers Full Costs & Supports Others This level goes beyond covering individual and group expenses. Any surplus from generous contributions is used to support participants with limited financial means or to fund initiatives within the Vcil Community ecosystem. This is a way of giving back and supporting future learners, ensuring the "circle of generosity" continues to grow.

How It Works

For educational programs using this flexible fee structure, we will transparently disclose the MINIMUM total costrequired for the program to operate.

Each participant chooses a contribution level based on their financial situation. Higher-tier contributions sustain the program, ensuring that those requiring more assistance can still access valuable learning opportunities. The Sliding Scale, combined with the Pay-it-Forward Fund, allows us to support more individuals facing financial challenges.

Note: If the total contributions from participants do not meet the minimum required cost, the program will not take place.

In this way, every participant contributes not only to their own growth but also to the collective well-being of the community, fostering a culture of gifting, sharing, and mutual support.
