The Soil Project

The Soil Project (TSP) is an initiative that aims to bring about a new form of education in the 21st century. This is a gap year and college alternative program that supports learners on their journey to understand themselves and explore the world.

TSP's curriculum focuses on introversion, sustainability, growth rethinking, and social entrepreneurship education.

The Soil Project (TSP) is a gap year and college alternative education program for young people. With the philosophy of Soil education, The Soil Project will provide the necessary platforms, communities and resources for learners to embark on the journey of understanding themselves (inside) and exploring and serving the world (outside).

The Soil Project is also a self-directed educational program, offering a semi-part design program. The project aims to create a space, a nurturing community, in which learners support each other and choose their own program, content (self-directed) as well as internship programs, travel experiences, research and social entrepreneurship, etc.

Project Structure

The Soil Project is a self-directed educational program that offers a semi-partial structural program. In particular, parts of the program will be built by the project organizers and part will be created according to the personal experience of each person. The program structure will be as follows for each 6-month module:

Part 1 - Structured Curriculum: Seeds will participate in a learning/experience program organized by the project team or designed by the learning community itself.

Part 2 - Self-Learning Journey: Seed will actively select and design its own curriculum, experiences, internships, travel, and more. Seed can choose to stay on “campus” or stay with family or go to work or travel around, internships, personal projects, etc. anything related to the learning needs and personal development of that learner.

Part 3 - Reflection and Sharing: Seed friends return to The Soil Project, reflect and share their journey, lessons, and teach other Seeds the knowledge, skills, etc., that they have gained through their personal learning journey.

Curricula

The Soil Project is not just an educational program; it is a movement led by young people. The core of the program is to create a space for learners to discover and understand themselves, and prepare them to be changemakers — individuals who together explore, rethink, and reshape the future by actively contributing to building a happy society and renewable future.

Our program framework is built around the belief that education must empower individuals to understand who they are and act for a more beautiful world. With this in mind, The Soil Project focuses on the following key areas:

1. Understanding Yourself: Participate in experiences, activities, and training programs that help learners deeply connect with themselves and position themselves.

2. System Change & Rethinking Development:Rethink traditional notions of progress and development, and be open to more holistic approaches to the world — alternative pathways that prioritize ecological regeneration and the prosperity of people and the planet.

3. Nurturing the Entrepreneurial Spirit:Encourage entrepreneurship to create real and positive change locally, communities and the world.

4. Promoting Regeneration: Commit to and contribute to the regeneration and nurturing of both the planet and society, creating equity and ensuring future generations thrive in healthy environments.

4 comprehensive learning modules spread around the world

The Soil Project takes place across four core modules, each of which will take place in different locations around the globe, providing learners with diverse cultural contexts and hands-on experiences, ensuring they are equipped with experience of different cultures and approaches.

1. Nourishing:Discover the tools, knowledge and foundations to understand yourself and learn how to nurture your body, mind and spirit

2. Reproduction:

Focus on environmental regeneration insights and actions. This module delves into learning about how to manage and protect land and water, action against climate change and ecological restoration. Learn to heal and regenerate not only the environment, but also community, culture, society and personal well-being.

This module also helps learners develop an independent, autonomous and self-sufficient way of living according to the principles of the Sufficient Economic Philosophy.

3. New Stories and the Future World:

Explore and reimagine the definition of progress, development and success, towards a more renewable and equitable future.

4. Startup & Networking:

Encourage entrepreneurship and the pursuit of meaningful networks that create impactful change.

The Soil Project will not force you into a rigid academic program. Instead, the project will adjust depending on the available resources and the needs of the learners, allowing the educational journey to be more flexible and personalized. This ensures that the learning process stays relevant, dynamic and keeps pace with the changing needs of the world.

Output results

Each person is their own self-purpose, so we look forward to a more humane approach. Therefore, at The Soil Project we do not have a fixed purpose or goal for the learner to achieve, but the important thing in TSP is that the learner has the experience and the opportunity to connect with himself, to realize his own dreams and needs, so that the learner himself can walk the path of building his dreams, his goals, and of course, with the help of community. Just like our philosophy of soil education, soil can provide a habitat for plants, provide nutrients but absolutely cannot interfere with plant growth.

We think that each of us has our own goals and dreams. Whether I say that the goal is to create free, open, or successful people, it is our own subjective goal and not that of the learner, and if we think in this way, unwittingly our learners and teammates become tools for building our dreams, not theirs. And that's not what the project is about.

In addition, learning should be a personal journey and a lifelong journey without a specific destination.
