VCIL Community is opening a 2-3 week summer program for high school and university students.
This program is for students who wish to deepen their understanding of themselves and explore different perspectives on gender diversity and inequality. Through this program, we aim to:
1. Create a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ and cisgender participants to engage in critical dialogue
2. Help participants broaden their perspectives on gender and LGBTQ+ issues
3. Equip participants with knowledge and tools to advocate for a more inclusive society
4. Strengthen participants' sense of self and develop their capacity to lead social change
Program Details:
Duration: 2-3 weeks (to be confirmed)
Facilitators: VCIL Community members
Cost: Full and Partial Scholarships available
Participants: High school and university students
The program will include interactive workshops, discussions, film screenings, guest speaker sessions, and more.
Program Content:
Week 1: Introduction to SOGIES concepts and personal identity exploration
Week 2: Gender inequality, power structures, and social systems
Week 3: Advocacy, action planning, and creating change (if applicable)
Teaching Methodology:
The program uses transformative learning approaches, including:
- Critical consciousness raising
- Dialogue and reflection
- Experiential learning
- Peer learning and support
- Creative expression
